A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT ST. TAMMANY PARISH
GOVERNMENT'S APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE
OFFICE ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN FOR THE PURPOSE
OF FUNDING A ONE-STOP FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER.
WHEREAS, the President's Family Justice Center initiative will fund the planning and
development of selected comprehensive domestic violence victim service and support centers.
WHEREAS, the purpose of this one-stop shop for domestic violence is to accommodate
victims who wish to consult with and seek the services of law enforcement officers, prosecutors,
medical professionals, attorneys, chaplains, legal advocates, nonprofit agencies, and representatives
from community-based organizations in one location.
WHEREAS, St. Tammany Parish Government (“STPG”) is working with the District Attorney,
the Sheriff, Safe Harbor and other nonprofit agencies to determine the needs, develop a budget and
write a grant proposal for a family justice center near the Justice Center in Covington.
THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY RESOLVES to support STPG's grant
application for the President's Family Justice Center Initiative from the Office on Violence Against
Women.
