ST. TAMMANY PARISH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION

                                        
RESOLUTION COUNCIL SERIES NO. C-0988

COUNCIL SPONSOR MR. GOULD     PROVIDED BY COUNCIL OFFICE

        RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO AMEND THE BOUNDARIES OF RECREATION DISTRICT NO. 1 AND RECREATION DISTRICT NO. 10, AND DIRECTING THE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN TO GIVE DUE NOTICE THEREOF.
    

         WHEREAS, the boundaries of St. Tammany Parish Recreation District No. 1 include within it all of Ward 4, the City of Mandeville and River Oaks Subdivision; and

    WHEREAS, the boundaries of St. Tammany Parish Recreation District No. 10 include within it all of Ward 3, excluding River Oaks Subdivision, and including the City of Covington; and

    WHEREAS, the Parish Council now desires to amend the boundaries of Recreation District No. 1 and Recreation District No. 10 with regard to an area presently comprising voting Precincts 307 and 309, as more fully described below.

    THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY RESOLVES, pursuant to the provisions of Louisiana Revised Statute 33:4562 and St. Tammany Parish Home Rule Charter Section 8-06, to amend the boundaries of Recreation District No. 10 to exclude that area of Ward 3 presently comprising voting Precincts 307 and 309, and to amend the boundaries of Recreation District No. 1 to include that area of Ward 3 presently comprising voting Precincts 307 and 309, and as more fully described as follows:

    Commence at the intersection of Highway 190 and Interstate 12, also the point of beginning; thence follow Highway 190 north to its intersection with 2nd Avenue; thence follow 2nd Avenue east and northeast to its intersection with Harrison Avenue; thence follow Harrison Avenue east to its intersection with Fuchsia Street; thence follow Fuchsia Street south to its intersection with Washington Avenue; thence follow Washington Avenue west to its intersection with 11th Street; thence follow 11th Street south to its intersection with Lincoln Street; thence follow Lincoln Street east to its intersection with North Street; thence follow North Street northeast to its intersection with 11th Avenue; thence follow 11th Avenue southeast to its intersection with Soell      Drive; thence follow Soell Drive southwest to its intersection with Parker Drive; thence follow Parker Drive southeast to its intersection with Highway 59; thence follow Highway 59 south to its intersection with Ponchitalawa Creek; thence follow the meanderings of Ponchitalawa Creek generally southwest to Highway 190; thence follow Highway 190 north to Interstate 12, also the point of beginning.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parish Council shall meet in open and public session at its regular meeting place, Council Chambers, 21490 Koop Drive, Mandeville, Louisiana, on Thursday, February 5, 2004, at 6:00 p.m., for the purpose of hearing any and all objections to the amendments of the boundaries of the aforesaid Recreation Districts, and, after disposing of all objections, the Parish Council shall, if it determines to do so, adopt the necessary ordinance providing for same.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Parish Council is hereby ordered and directed to issue a Notice of Intention of the Parish Council to amend the boundaries of the said Districts, which notice shall embrace substantially all things set forth in this resolution, shall be substantially in the form attached as Exhibit “A” hereto, and shall be published in accordance with the provisions of law.

EXHIBIT “A”

NOTICE OF INTENTION

    Pursuant to the provisions of a resolution adopted by the Council of the Parish of St. Tammany, State of Louisiana, on January 15, 2004, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intention of said Parish Council to amend the boundaries of Recreation District No. 10, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, to exclude the following described area from its boundaries and to include said area within Recreation District No. 1, to-wit:

     An area currently comprising voting Precincts 307 and 309, and as more fully described as follows:

    NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Council of the Parish of St. Tammany, State of Louisiana, will meet in open and public session at its regular meeting place, the Parish Council Chambers, 21490 Koop Drive, Mandeville, Louisiana, on Thursday, February 5, 2004, at 6:00 p.m., and will at that time hear any and all objections to amending the boundaries of said Recreation Districts, and, after disposing of all objections, if it determines to do so, will adopt an ordinance ratifying and approving amending the boundaries of Recreation District No. 10 and Recreation District No. 1.
