A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF
FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FLOOD
MITIGATION ASSISTANCE MONEY TO ELEVATE FLOOD-
PRONE RESIDENCES, OR ACQUIRE, DEMOLISH AND REMOVE
FLOOD-PRONE RESIDENCES.
WHEREAS, increasing development in St. Tammany Parish (“STP”) has suffered repeated
flooding of homes; and
WHEREAS, damage to homes has caused loss of property and lives and displaced many STP
residents; and
WHEREAS, STP is committed to reducing or eliminating flood damage to residences; and
WHEREAS, flood damage to homes can be prevented through Flood Mitigation Assistance
grants; and
WHEREAS, money from these grants can elevate flood-prone residences or allow acquisition,
demolition and removal of those residences; and
WHEREAS, the grant money will protect these residences from the damaging effects of flood
waters; and
WHEREAS, this grant will enable STP to elevate these residences or acquire them through
acquisition.
THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY RESOLVES to expend $76,500 received from
the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Flood Mitigation Assistance program.
