        ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PARISH CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 16, ARTICLE XVII, RECREATION DISTRICT NO. 15, SECTION 16-036.03 COMMISSIONERS, TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE IN THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FROM FIVE TO SEVEN MEMBERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH LSA R.S. 33:4564 (C), AND TO APPOINT THE TWO ADDITIONAL MEMBERS THERETO.

    WHEREAS, Ordinance C.S. No. 01-0279, adopted March 1, 2001, created the St. Tammany Parish Recreation District No. 15 (the District), established the boundaries thereof, and appointed the Board of Commissioners to terms in accordance with state law; and

    WHEREAS, there is a need to expand the Board of Commissioners from five (5) to seven (7) members in order to promote and manage the athletic programs offered by said District; and

    WHEREAS, in accordance therewith, the Parish Council approves the expansion of the Board of Commissioners of Recreation District No. 15 from five to seven members in accordance with LSA R.S. 33:4564 (C).

    THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY ORDAINS that Chapter 16 of the Code of Ordinances, specifically Article XVII, Section 16-036.03, be amended as follows:

    The Board of Commissioners for Recreation District No. 15 shall be composed of five seven (7) members, four six (6) of whom shall be appointed by the Parish Council and one to be appointed by the Parish President. Members shall be qualified voters and residents of the area covered by the District in accordance with La. R.S. 33:4564, and shall serve terms expiring on December 31, 2003 December 31, 2007.

    REPEAL: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

    SEVERABILITY: If any provision of this Ordinance shall be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions herein which can be given effect without the invalid provision and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.

    EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after adoption.
