RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION INITIATE AND SUPPORT THE
FILING OF A BILL IN THE 2004 LOUISIANA LEGISLATURE
AUTHORIZING ADMINISTRATIVE ADJUDICATION
PROCEDURES FOR ALL VIOLATIONS OF PARISH
ORDINANCES
WHEREAS, Louisiana Revised Statute 13:2575B authorizes a parish with a population of
ninety thousand or more to adopt ordinances establishing an administrative hearing procedure for
persons charged with housing violations determined to constitute a threat or danger to the public
health, safety or welfare and/or to the environment; and
WHEREAS, as a parish with a population in excess of two hundred thousand, St. Tammany
Parish is enabled to utilize the administrative hearing procedure in limited cases of blighted property;
and
WHEREAS, St. Tammany Parish seeks to expand the authorized uses of administrative
hearing procedures in order to address not only blighted property violations, but also, violations of
building codes, zoning, vegetation and nuisance ordinances, licensing and permits and any other
ordinance violations that may be determined by the St. Tammany Parish Council; and
WHEREAS, the utilization of administrative hearing procedures for Parish code violations
will make for a more effective and efficient operation of Parish Government, as well as, relieve the
state district court system of misdemeanor parish code violations on its dockets.
THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY RESOLVES to request the St. Tammany
Parish Legislative Delegation initiate and support the filing of a bill in the 2004 Louisiana
Legislature authorizing administrative adjudication procedures for all violations of parish ordinances.
