RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HOUSING ELEMENT FOCUS GROUP
OF NEW DIRECTIONS 2025 INCLUDE WITHIN ITS ELEMENT OF THE
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR ST. TAMMANY PARISH,
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FUTURE
MOBILE HOME AND MANUFACTURED HOUSING ZONING
DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, in the year 1999, the St. Tammany Parish Police Jury initiated preparation of the New
Directions 2025 Comprehensive Plan to guide future development of the Parish in an orderly, sustainable
manner; and
WHEREAS, a work program for the St. Tammany Parish Comprehensive Plan containing ten (10)
elements and a planning process has been prepared to develop the New Directions 2025 Comprehensive Plan
with one of the elements being a Housing plan; and
WHEREAS, the New Directions 2025 Housing Element is an extensive community involvement
program in which parish citizens develop a consensus vision regarding future housing needs and trends in St.
Tammany Parish while being consistent and compatible with the approved New Directions 2025 - Land Use
Element, Phase 1; and
WHEREAS, the Parish Council requests that the Housing Element specifically address in its Housing
Plan recommendations of areas in the Parish appropriate for the future establishment of mobile home and
manufactured housing zoning districts, with special attention given to areas within the Parish Growth
Management Area (GMA).
THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY RESOLVES through its governing authority, to request
the Housing Element Focus Group of New Directions 2025 to include within its element of the
Comprehensive Plan for St. Tammany Parish, recommendations for the establishment of future mobile home
and manufactured housing zoning districts, with special attention given to areas within the Parish Growth
Management Area.
